Buick is for the first time ever entering a (mostly stock) Regal GS into the 24th bi-annual Silver State Classic Challenge on Nevada State Highway 318 this Sunday, September 18. Driving the GS will be Bill Rietow, the car’s lead development engineer, while John Townsend, the GS’ drive quality powertrain engineer will be navigating.
The Regal GS will be entering the 120 mph class in the 90-mile stretch of road, all mostly for the sake of helping engineers gain insights about vehicle and engine performance. The only modifications to the car will be safety-oriented, as a roll hoop and five-point harness seat belts will be installed, and some computational equipment for data collection.
Best of luck to Buick!
