Yes. Boom. Into a wall, at 40 miles per hour. But with 60 percent of the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic’s body structure utilizing high-strength steel, the shape of the vehicle is still recognizable. Well, sort of. But with 10 airbags, loads of sensors and reinforcements everywhere, and the cabin of the Sonic aims to be the safest subcompact in the market.

  3. I can’t imagine crashing any car at 40 mph, truthfully I would not want to be in any car crashing at 40mph. But thankfully GM has us covered if we are.

  4. Wow. i’ve never really watched one of these, but it looks to have held up pretty well. I was just reading a Johnny Londoff Chevrolet blog post on the Sonic and it looks like a great little car!

    In a car accident like this engines are pushed downward, so they dont end up in your lap, this is how modern cars are designed with the crumple zone.
