Classics: The Story Of Two Nearly Perfect Chevy Bel Airs That Should’ve Been At Woodward

While Detroiters are enjoying the sights and sounds of the Woodward Dream Cruise, those outside the Motor City are taking pleasure in their own automotive gatherings. It was at one of these meet-ups in the county of Southern Colorado a few weeks ago that I had the rare opportunity to spot a couple of second-generation Chevy Bel Airs that were in the most excellent of conditions.

One was a 1955 Coupe and the other, a 1957 Convertible. I got in as many photos of both as I could until the rain started pouring on these beauties as if it was pouring straight out of a bucket. Nevertheless, I don’t think there’s a question in anyone’s mind that these two definitions of elegance should have been at Woodward this year.

By the way, the GM Authority Woodward Dream Cruise mobile this year is a red 2011 Chevy Volt. If you see us, come say “hi”!
