Chevrolet has been looking for ways to attract curious customers to its dealerships. Fortunately, it seems to have found a solution with the Volt. To point, initial buyer surveys conducted by GM claim that over half of all Volt owners have not visited a Chevy dealer in 10 years, while a third of them have never been to a dealer in their lives.
To keep the momentum, more Volt demo vehicles will be shipped out to dealers, increasing the number of Volts available for test drives (and for sale) from 550 to 2,600 within the next four months. This boost coincides with the increased production output of the Volt’s Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant, and GM’s planned nationwide rollout of the Volt, which added several states to the availability roster since the start of Q3, with more on the way in Q4.

This makes sense – I have never been to a Chevy dealer my entire life (I am 35) and I was specifically looking at larger hybrids (Tahoe) for family & cargo purposes. If I was on the hunt for a sedan the Volt would have definitely been the draw (followed immediately by a vist to a toyota dealer to look at a camry hybrid).
It’s got to lift sales and perception, considering I now have a Traverse on my mind, which I had relegated as a POS until I actually sat in one.
