We’ve seen this before, but it’s been a few months. And while no new intel has given us any leads as to just what this cloaked mid-sized fixed-rear-axle SUV is hiding underneath all of that camouflage, it certainly has rekindled our interest.
Nobody on the outside of this 2013 Chevy Colorado-based SUV can say for sure if this vehicle is coming to the U.S. market or not, or if it’s bound for the rest of the world in markets like Thailand and Argentina.
If it’s to offer the same engines as the next generation Colorado, we can at the very least expect an all-new 2.8L turbodiesel I-4 engine that is being developed in-house by GM, while perhaps seeing an appearance from the impressive gasoline-powered 3.6L LFX V6 or even the upcoming twin-turbocharged 3.0L LF3 V6 as well. Unlike the Colorado pictured, I really hope GM doesn’t screw the pooch and offer this in the States. A body on frame SUV just does not make sense in the current climate. Buyers motives are towards fuel efficiency and comfort. Something that body on frame SUV’s were never particularly good at. It could have a class leading everything and if it still drives like it’s floating on water then its no good.
Blazer redux? I wonder if GM is considering offering this in the states to compete with the 4Runner and Pathfinder.
Here is my request; 2 door with 2 back suicide doors similar to Toyota FJ; make it look like its ready 4 the back country and call it Blazer please…
This is just the SUV I have been waiting for!! Bring it to market ASAP!
Sara — what are you looking in such a vehicle? Just curious 🙂
Alex, We have a summer home that is challenging to access. We also regularly tow our boat in the summer, snowmobiles in the winter. We often leave the cottage loaded with heavy firewood. Our Tahoe is getting old. We would like something slightly smaller. A car based crossover with a foo foo AWD system would not work for us.
This may be the top competitor to the new Ford Explorer, which might mean it might be also a 7-passenger SUV
