General Motors has made it official and announced a $328 million investment for its full-sized pickup truck assembly plant in Flint, Mich. The number is just north of the $300 million prediction reported over the weekend. The plant builds both the light and heavy duty versions of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks. Additionally, the investment with create or retain an 150 jobs for the plant, which currently employs 2,047. The new half-ton trucks are set to launch for early 2013, where they will feature an all-new design, engines and chassis.
In total, the state of Michigan is currently designated for $744 million of The General’s $2 billion nationwide investment plan announced earlier this year.
