As part of the largest-ever addition of electric vehicles to its fleet, the City of New York is adding 50 Chevrolet Volts to its lineup. Believe it or not, some will even be used as police vehicles, even though the Volt is meant to top out at 100 mph or so. But with the way traffic is in that city, we don’t really see anything getting away from these plug-in police vehicles anyways.

I’m very curious to see what type of duty the Volt will be used to do. I don’t think they’d be tough enough to handle some of the bang up work that the current Crown Vic’s do. Hopefully they will buy Caprice’s to replace the Crown Vics.
