Melbourne 2011: Holden Cruze Hatchback Show Car Looks Bloody Brilliant

In the same style and hue that we first saw the Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback show car in Paris earlier last year, the Holden Cruze Hatchback is guaranteed to woo whomever lays eyes on it during the 2011 Melbourne Motor Show. But like the show car we saw in Paris, don’t expect such glossy features like the LED foglamps or sculpted turn signals worked into the headlamps to make their way into production. Instead, expect something more like this. And though an exact launch date was not given, it shouldn’t be long before the Australian-built Cruze arrives in dealerships.

  1. THE REASON GM DOES NOT RUN AWAY WITH SALES IS THAT THEY WOULD NOT BUILD THIS CAR THE WAY IT SITS.I MEAN IT LOOKS GREAT WITH THE BLUE BRAKE CALIPERS AND TURN SIGNALS,BUT YOU KNOW –KIA– WOULD AND THATS WHY THEY WILL BE A FORCE TO DEAL WITH, YOU SEE MORE AND MORE OF THEM ON THE ROAD. GM HAS GOT TO STOP NICKEL AND DIME THSE CARS JUST BUILD IT THE WAY THE PEOPLE WANT GET CREATIVE –GM–YOU CAN DO IT SO DO IT PLEASE.

    1. Yeah — KIa would build it the way it is! Heck, they built the Optima and Forte Koup as close to their respective concepts as I’ve ever seen!

Those blue headlamp surrounds, lights, calipers make this car. I hope GM builds it the way it is soon — because it’s so much hotter than the production Cruze (which I happen to own).

  2. I know a lot of the time people say things like, “Bring it over here and put the 2.0T in it, and I’ll buy it” when in fact what they really mean is that they’ll consider buying a used one 4 years from now.

In fact, if they brought this over, and put the 2.0T in it, I would genuinely buy it. I love the Cruze, but want a hatch, and need more power.

    Count me in for One.

    1. I’m right there with you Paul. I paid just over $23,000 for my Cruze 2LT… and wouldn’t do it again for the same car. But would definitely pay again for one with a more powerful engine in hatch form.

      1. The one thing that gets me is that I’m pretty sure the first small car I’ll be able to get with the 2.0T is the Verano Turbo in 2014MY, and that poses a problem.

I’d REALLY like to get a 6-speed with the turbo (match made in heaven), but resale on a Verano with a 6-speed is going to in the dump.

I hope the Astra 2.0T comes out during or before the 2014 model year, because that’s about as long as I can wait for a new car, and THAT car would be fine with a manual. 🙂

        1. I thought that Verano Turbo will be a 2013 model year… let me check on that.

          1. The Verano is 2013 – if GM brings out the Turbo at SOP I’ll be blown away. (ha)

  3. Maybe if they don’t do it standard, make those awesome lights and brakes in a RS package, the Camaro did it.

    1. That would seem wise. Don’t give it to the people who don’t appreciate it… but offer it to those who will (for a fee).

  5. Sculptured turn indicators are already a feature of the Series II Cruze sedan. This car is badged SRi which is the most sporty Holden gets. I’m expecting it to be not too far off this show car.
