Video: A Chevy Silverado Boldly Jumps Where No Truck Has Jumped Before, And Then Crashes

This could be the start of a grassroots movement to get Chevrolet to begin offering a Ford SVT Raptor fighter… or maybe just somebody who likes to waste forty grand.

That aside, how about that GMT900 frame?

  2. Would have been WAY more embarassing in a Raptor, I can only imagine what the aluminum forgings in the Fords front suspention would have done, maybee spit out the right front wheel. The Silverado looks like a Z85 or maybee a RWD stone stocker, worktruck.
I guess the man who did the stunt beleaves everything he sees in the movies, um probably not annymore.

  3. Thats a rough landing, but the frame held up well considering the impact to one corner of the truck and with so much air time.

    1. Ouch. My question is what they’re looking for under the hood… Gold? Just look at the truck — it’s effing bent!

  5. This is probally an example of where an ounce of alcohol turns into a pound of stupidity. Reminds me of a hot summer day in Mich. when I “put the hammer down” on my 406 V-8 Vega. I was coming off an entrance ramp from I-94 onto US 131 and when I turned my steering wheel slightly to the right to avoid crossing the center line the vehicle didn’t respond. So I took my foot off the gas and when I did I shot directly to the right off the road downward into the grass. Before I could stop the damn thing I watched the fiberglass tile front end go directly up & over the windshield. Their was other damage as well. Had to come-a-long onto a flatbed trailor. When I ratcheted from 2 to 1 and punched the gas the front end had risen just enough to not steer but it steered when I let OFF the gas. BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR! Whats really scary… I hadn’t even had an ounce of alcohol… YET! I better shut-up. Later….

    1. That’s scary man. And those Vegas were known for being able todo wheelies. Did you end up getting her fixed up?

  6. Oh yea!!!! Completely street legal (@ the time). Of course their was not to much “Vega” on it when complete… just the body shape. 2×4 tube steel chassis (it rode great… NOT!!) Narrowed 9in ford rear end with 4 link. The car was completely tubed out with M-50 Mickey’s. Last trans was a short-tail 400 completely tricked out. I did use Vega torque convertor(s). Slipped right on the 400 and gave a high stall along with the line lock brakes and they were CHEAP/ FREE and easy to install. The car had a push button tilt front end with alumamin firewall with 2 5/8 Auto Meter gagues mounted inside / outside of the firewall. Truth be told the car had more power than I had balls after pulling the front end up on the hwy. The car ran 12:30’s w/street tires. Lets maybe do a story on street legal Vegas’s… instead of electronic tool error proofing. Later…..

  7. With the front tire leaning inward, the bottom of the rear door hanging out & the top of the front door sticking out I doubt the truck did as good as you guys think. It also looks to be leaning to the right. Pause it at the :13-:14 second range. And yes I’m a proud Chevy truck owner.

  8. I totally agree with Rockett88. This truck has got to look better than it actually is. It probally had trouble just starying in gear after the jump. Wonder how my Colbolt would fair??? Ingore that guys. This Tenn. heat must be getting to me.
