Rendered Goodness: Rugged Chevy Spark 4×4

You’re looking at an artist’s rending of a rugged and quite brawny Chevy Spark (sold as the Beat in India). The design is the work of Jorge L. Fernandez — who says that he was inspired by several “almost-crossovers” (our translation). According to Mr. Fernandez, this husky Spark would be driven by all four wheels and sport plastic cladding around the bottom of the vehicle.
Needless to say, it’s a very cool concept and even though it probably will never make see production, we may just see something along its lines in an oft-rumored Chevy-badged Gamma II-based crossover.

We wont see it. The new GM doesnt seem to be different from the old GM. Let Honda or toyota or some one produce it for several years with record sales…..then GM will produce it with less features and an higher price.
Thanks Alex!
I’d like to see Mr. Fernandez do a rendering on the new Sonic Hatchback LTZ, the Cruze LTZ, and the new Buick Verano, and show it to the general public.
And who knows? If we get another snow event like the one last winter back East and in the Midwest, GM might want to consider an “Outback” version of their little compacts.

Well — that’s the topic du jour, ins’t it? I think that pretty much every sedan/wagon/hatch (in other words, every “car”) should have a CUV variant.
The Aveo/Sonic is getting one on the Gamma… we already know this… but how about a CUV based on the Cruze — a truly compact crossover to compete against the Nissan Rogue, Toyota RAV4, Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, and VW Tiguan?
How about an Epsilon-based crossover that would be a true midsizer — like the Equinox, but with a third row option to go against Kia Sorento, Toyota Highlander, next-gen Hyundai Santa-Fe, etc?
And finally, a full-size crossover based on the stretched Epsilon (next-gen Impala)… that’s where the Traverse (and other Lambdas) are now.
Let’s hope GM changes their approach to creating CUVs off independent platforms… because — while it may work now — it won’t be very competitive in the long run.
I love the look of this vehicle! It has everything I want, and if I could order one today, I would!
