Opel Releases Rendering Of Upcoming Astra Convertible

GM’s European design studio has just released this rendering of Opel’s (and Vauxhall‘s) upcoming drop-top model, which was already caught testing last month. From the looks of it, the car will have seating for four and will simply be a convertible variant of the Astra line based on the Delta platform, which includes the five-door hatch, wagon (called the Sports Tourer), three-door GTC, and a four-door sedan that hasn’t been released yet (update: this is the Opel Astra sedan).

Whether this model will make it to North America as a Buick is not known, since details are still few and far between. Not only that, but we also don’t know whether the convertible will wear the Astra nameplate at all in Europe or be its own model entirely. But one thing is for certain: this vert will not feature a retractable hard top configuration seen on the last-generation Astra TwinTop; instead, it will sport a more traditional soft-top configuration that should decrease complexity, mass, and cost.
