So, say you don’t want the 37 mpg eAssist system offered standard in the 2012 Buick LaCrosse. That’s okay, because Buick has officially announced that it will offer a 302 hp 3.6L LFX V6 engine in the 2012 LaCrosse as a no-cost option. The same engine will be offered standard in the 2012 Chevrolet Impala, as reported earlier. The V6 option is expected to return 17 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway for the LaCrosse, which is expected to be available later this summer. For more, open up the presser.

The buick lacrosse is a big sedan they should of had this kind of power in this vehicle at launch just like GM should’ve had the 3.6 direct engine in the srx instead of a V6 twin turbo piece of crap that had identical power output and dismal fuel economy I don’t know whats going on behind the scenes in GM but common since seems to be something that they are lacking although I am pleased to see them correct there mishaps
And how about the fact that the SRX can’t hold a candle to the X5 or the Benz ML in terms of handling and driving dynamics? So while the entire Caddy lineup is moving to a rear-wheel-drive performance-oriented luxury experience (with the exception of the XTS), the SRX is FWD-based mommy mobile…
Excellent observation Luft I get the feeling that since buick doesn’t have a proper suv to battle the Lexus RX the SRX as it is in it’s current generation was giving the task to steal sales from lexus in that segment and if I am not mistaken the SRX Is selling fairly well but your absolutely right the srx should be a rwd performance/luxury suv that battles the bms’s and mercedes not lexus leave that for buick as a more soft luxury but heck what do I know lol
Exactly! That’s the strategy GM should undertake with Buick and Cadillac. Not this mid-level luxury crap that Buick seems to be right now…
this new 3.6L is also in the Enclave for 2012. Bet it goes across the board and replaces the lower hp 3.6 in all GM products for 2012.
A very welcome change indeed.
That car needs something more to stand out. 302hp will do it. A car that large, with that huge an ass, only has a 13cu ft trunk with goose neck hinges. Don’t get me wrong, the car looks good – it just needs more to go along with it. I don’t see how the heavy Camaro gets 29+ mpg and this thing only gets 27.
Probably because that Camaro you’re referring to is a stick… The Lexus ES has goosenecks as well… so I don’t think their presence is a major problem for the LaCrosse.
However, the way those goosenecks are set up is definitely annoying. They seem to have this reverse-pull spring action in them that makes the trunk difficult to close… instead, the goose neck hinges should be free-flowing mechanisms: they shouldn’t resist the closing of the lid, and they shouldn’t help in opening it either. They should just “be”.
In their current implementation, those hinges are the worst part of the car! The Lexus ES has no problem with its goosenecks.
because the camaro v-6 weighs 3719 and the lacross weighs 4000lbs
