Maryland Chevrolet Dealer Is Selling 13 Caprice Police Vehicles To The Public (For Real!)

Thanks to some cunning contracts reading, and an oversight by GM, Criswell Chevrolet of Gaithersburg, Maryland is putting 13 (and only 13) Caprice Police Patrol Vehicles on their lot for sale to the public.

They have been modified, of course, to better accommodate civilians (such as alloy wheels, power windows and power seats) and will sticker at $31,000 to $37,000. For that, buyers will get a 355 horsepower 6.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine, and the envy of millions.

Unfortunately, GM is prohibiting any future Caprice sales from dealers directly to the public by rewriting all of its future contracts.

  3. They must have repainted them too as i have never seen a Red Police car lol But only 355 HP? The Camaro SS has 400 to 426. You would think they would have at least equal Horse Power or the 6.2 Liter.

  4. I was thinking about this a few days ago. I took a look at the car company’s that would be considered competitors to Chevrolet. From what I can tell only one of them offers a rear wheel drive sedan. Why does it have to be one way or the other, why can’t they offer both. Just a thought, yea it’s me typing out loud again lol 🙂

  5. This is bafoonery at its finest! Why in the ham sandwich would this happen when I’m NOT in a financial situation to make a car purchase? *sighs* I’ll be locked in my bathroom if anyone needs me…

  7. Maybe this type of publicity will demonstrate to GM’s corporate minds that a civilian Caprice has a market.

    1. The G8 got the 6.2 option (in GXP guise, the GT got the 6.0), and is lighter so therefore probably quicker.
