Community Question: Did You Or Anyone You Know Buy A GM Olympic Fleet Vehicle?

About a year ago, athletes all over the world made history by competing in the 2010 Winter Games in Canada. And when the games came to a close and the results were written in the history books, GM decided to sell the more-than the 4,600 vehicles used to shuttle athletes, officials, VIPs, and dignitaries to and from competitions and related events in dealerships across the country.

The “Olympic” vehicles, which spent time in Vancouver and Whistler, wear the commemorative (and “permanent”) Vancouver 2010 medallions adorned with the iconic Inukshuk symbol as well as Olympic rings and include:

  • Chevrolet Equinox, Malibu (Hybrid), Impala, Traverse, Suburban & Tahoe
  • Buick Lucerne & Enclave
  • Cadillac DTS, CTS Sport Sedan & Sport Wagon, Escalade (Hybrid) & SRX
  • GMC Acadia, Terrain, Yukon (Hybrid models available) & Yukon XL

Now that the fleet has undoubtedly sold out, did you — or someone you know — buy one of these historic machines? If so, do you get brownie points from friends, family, or even fellow motorists for buying a piece of national athletic history on wheels?

  1. I sold a couple Tahoe/Yukon Hybrids and some Malibu hybrids from the olympics. And a Tahoe and another guy sold a Corvette from the RNC in Minnesota.
