Like its imminent launch in China, the all-new 2012 Chevrolet Sonic Aveo will be hitting European dealerships this summer. Engine choices will be as small as a 1.2L four-pot that makes a measly 70 horsepower (51kW) and (115 NM) of torque, with the largest engine being a 1.6L ECOTEC that is good for 115 horsepower (85 kW) (155 NM) of torque with another 1.2L (good for 86 horses) and a 1.4L engine in between.
The presser states that combined fuel economy for the 86 horsepower version of the 1.2L will consume just 5.1 liters per 100 kilometers (46 MPG) while the larger 1.6L engine will average 6.6 liters per 100 kilometers (35 MPG).
For the record, Chevy, referring to the same car with two different names is really quite aggravating.

Sonic is a dumb name and will hurt sales, I assure you. I for one would never buy one, no matter how good it looks, especially since it doesn’t come with disc brakes at the rear. No car with drums is worth my time.
