Woman Survives Seven Weeks In Chevy Astro

Talk about a harrowing story of survival: Albert and Rita Chretien were leaving their home in British Columbia, Canada to Las Vegas, NV in their Chevrolet Astro van for vacation. Unfortunately, the GPS system the Chretiens were using led them astray and caused the Astro to get stuck in the mud out in the Nevada wilderness.

After three days of waiting, Albert set foot to find some help. Rita would stay behind in the car for seven more weeks, surviving by rationing her trail mix and drinking melted snow. It wasn’t until a week ago that a group of hunters came across the stuck van and Rita. Since then, Rita has been taken to a hospital in Twin Falls, Idaho before being transferred to a hospital in British Columbia where she is recovering. Sadly, Albert has not been found and the search continues for him.

    1. Angela — I think that you have us confused with General Motors… which we’re not.

If you were to grace the very top of GM Authority with a very quick glance, you would find our tagline: “The Ultimate Independent Destination For Everything General Motors.”

The key word there is INDEPENDENT — meaning we’re not affiliated, condoned, or approved by General Motors. We’re a destination for news, reviews, rumors, as well as many other things about General Motors. If only people these days were a bit more attentive as to their activities on the web, we would’ve be having this pointless conversation.
