Racing Roundup: Cruze WTCC Team Dominates Monza, Cadillac Misses Podium Finish, Formula Drifting Camaro Debuts

Chevrolet WTCC Team Continues To Dominate BMW And SEAT

Seriously, it’s not even funny anymore. These racing-only versions of the everyday Chevy compact sedan you see on the road today continues to obliterate the rest of the field in the WTCC circuit with its most recent 1-2 finish in Monza, Italy. Placing first was Robert Huff, while Yvan Muller took second. In Driver’s Points standings, Huff leads the pack with 120 points, followed by teammates Muller (84 points) and Alain Menu (79 points). Team Chevrolet currently has a vice grip in Manufacturer’s Points standings with 242 points, with SEAT at a distant second with 150.

Cadillac Racing Takes 4th, 5th In Utah

A podium finish continues to elude Cadillac Racing’s Johnny O’Connell and Andy Pilgrim, who finished fourth and fifth respectively during the Pirelli World Challenge Grand Prix in Utah. However the team had made some changes to the pair of Cadillac CTS-V Coupe race cars before the race, and both drivers agreed that the cars felt better than ever before. LS7-Powered Gardella Racing – Redbull/Mobil1 Formula Drift Camaro Finishes Top 32 In Atlanta

After some delays this year, the Gardella Racing Redbull/Mobil1 Formula Drift Camaro finally entered its first competition at none other than Road Atlanta, where the LS7-powered lateral screamer finished in the Top 32 after being bumped the race after emerging from the qualifying round. The next race for the Gardella Racing team will take place on June 3rd in West Palm, Florida.

  1. WTCC reminds me of SCCA in the early 1970’s when Datsun 510’s ran circles around Mustangs and Camaro’s. I’m glad I’ve lived to see the day, I love it when it rains, and the BMW’s have to slow down to avoid spinning out, and the little Chevy’s understeer all the way to VICTORY, TOO COOL.
