The resurfacing of the speculation that the next generation Corvette will feature a mid-engined layout has become the rumor that just won’t die. Yet, as far-fetched as a mid-engined ‘Vette sounds, Britain’s Autocar believes it could very well be the case, pointing to a recent quote made my GM North American president Mark Reuss, who said the C7 Corvette will be “completely different” than what we currently see today.
Well, “completely different” could mean all sorts of things. It could mean styling that’s completely different than the C6. It could mean that its engines and transmissions will be completely different from the current model. It could mean a completely different, world class interior filled with new technology and driver-centric comforts.
If you put all of those variables together, sans a mid-engine layout, and yes — the C7 Corvette will be completely different. Or…
