GM’s Michigan Engine Plants To See $109M In Upgrades

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that General Motors plans to take $109 million of the $2 billion nationwide investment plan and use it on renovations for Michigan’s Flint engine plant, where the 1.4L ECOTEC engines are produced that we see in the Chevy Cruze and Volt, as well as the Bay City plant that builds components for the engines. The investment calls for keeping or creating around 96 jobs. The money will be unevenly divided, with $84 million going to Flint, and the remaining $25 million headed to Bay City.

It should be noted that General Motors will not be posting new job openings at the plants until the arrangements are made official.
