A few eagle-eyed GM Authority readers have written in asking about the light blue color seen on various press photos of the 2012 Chevy Aveo. These folks noticed that the color was absent from GM’s recently-released options list for the Sonic. We’ve written in to GM for clarification — and have the scoop.
As it turns out, the color, which has yet to receive a name from Chevrolet North America, will only be available at launch in the European-spec Aveo (not the Sonic) this summer. According to GM, Sonic buyers in the U.S. and Canada who want the blue color in question will have to wait until the interim change to the Gamma II-based sub-compact, scheduled to take place later on in 2012; these “running update” Sonics will — oddly enough — still carry the 2012 model year designation.
Now that we know this, consider the blue color mystery solved. However, we have to wonder what other goodies are destined for that late 2012 Sonic “interim change.”

DOH!
Now that I’ve put my order in, I can’t help but wonder what updates are in store for mid 2012 MY? Will GM finally cave & offer a full color screen nav system that will run on OnStar’s “Destination Download” & include a back-up camera? Will GM offer sensors on the bumpers that lets the driver know through an audible tone how close they’re getting to a parked car or object? Will I have “Buyer’s Remorse” if these things come to past?
No Sonic Blue?
Tardus Blue, just what the Doctor ordered.
Oh my goodness! Awesome article dude! Thanks, However I am having issues with your RSS. I don’t understand why I can’t subscribe to it. Is there anyone else getting identical RSS issues? Anybody who knows the solution can you kindly respond? Thanx!!
