GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly plant will see a four week shutdown in June so that — along with summer vacation for everyone — it will be able to upgrade itself to prepare for production of the all-new 2013 Chevrolet Malibu along with increased production of the Volt.
With the increased production, GM expects to produce up to 16,000 Chevy Volts and Opel Amperas by year’s end, with several thousand shipping off to China, Canada and Europe.
