The current generation Chevrolet Impala may have just another year or two before it drives off into the sunset to make way for something much more modern, but before it does, the 2012 model year will cradle a 3.6-liter LFX V6 engine that’s good for 302 horsepower — the same as the late Impala SS. If only it had the suspension, brakes and drivetrain to match the generous bump in power.
Also of note is that the 2012 Buick LaCrosse will offer the same 302 horsepower six-pot as the 2012 Impala along with the 2.4-liter ECOTEC engine coupled with the eAssist system that’s good for 37 miles per gallon. The neat part is that Buick will offer both starting powertrains for the same price when it launches this summer.

I would love to hear the FE on the V6 so if it does offer more than 30+mpg on the V6 then I can convince my parents not to buy the E-Assist.
Suspention and brakes, really, remember the RWD musclecars of 40 to 45 years ago; they did’nt need no stinking suspention and brakes. and they became legend.
Not that some Hyper-Struts or a set of Brembo’s would’nt be apriciated.
Those muscle cars you’re referring to were also rear-wheel drive.
GM why the hell, can’t you please upgrade the power on the corvettes. I think that you respond to the Corvettes competitors way too slow in terms of keeping this car up to date . Study this GM, the ZO6 began with 505hp and still has that ppower rating. It used to run the 1/4 mile in 11.7 seconds and now do it in 11.9, a decline, ZR-11.2 now 11.5. All of this while the base corvette is now being beaten by the Boss 302 in the 1/4 mile etc. GM you need to be more dynamic towards the competition in terms of overall performance upgrades . So please step up and upgrade the Corvettes , all of them before the next generation engine is available . And hurry up with that rear drive Caddilac, to appropriately compete with the big boys of the luxury world.
