“Know your enemy,” as they say. Ford has taken the old adage to heart when it comes to Chevrolet, or so it seems.
In the front lines of the Pony Car wars, there’s a battle for who has the highest horsepower, the most sales figures and who has the most diverse offering, just to name a few. And while the Chevy Camaro takes the cake in sales figures, it’s safe to say that the Ford Mustang is by far one of the most eclectic vehicles today, with all sorts of variants on the market — a few of which are not legal to drive on the street, like the Cobra Jet, a purpose-built ‘Stang designed to tear up the drag strip. Dodge has a competitor in this front as well with their V10-powered Challenger Drag Pak, but so far Chevrolet has remained absent. But according to Ford Racing’s drag racing competition manager, Jesse Kershaw, Chevrolet is indeed on track to build a contender.
Know your enemy. So, what could we possibly see out of Chevy’s stable? Chances are we will have to wait until SEMA 2011 to find out.
