The General’s Mainstreet In Motion will take place this weekend in Denver at the Invesco Field. The event allows everyday people to test drive Chevys, Buicks, and GMCs (nope, no Caddys) against the competition — including Acura, Lexus, Ford, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai Toyota, and Ram (full model list available below).
Registration still seems to be open as of this writing, so make sure to head on over to the official Mainstreet In Motion website to register and read the FAQs. If you don’t live in Denver, you can also check the tour schedule to see when it’s coming to a town near you.
Finally, yours truly will be at the event around 8 AM on Saturday April 30th with the west coast GM Authority camera crew, enjoying the rides and doing an interview or two… so if you’re planning on attending, please drop me a line and we’ll meet up and talk cars.
See you on the other side!
Model we can expect at the event:
Chevrolet Volt, Cruze, Equinox, Traverse, Corvette, Camaro, Malibu, Impala, Silverado, Silverado HD, Suburban, Tahoe, Tahoe Hybrid, and Avalanche; Buick Regal, LaCrosse and Enclave; GMC Acadia, Sierra, Sierra HD, Sierra Hybrid, Terrain, Yukon, and Yukon Denali Hybrid; Acura TSX, MDX and TL; Dodge Ram 1500 and Ram 2500; Ford Taurus, Explorer, Expedition, F-150 and F-250; Honda Accord, Civic, CR-V, Pilot and Ridgeline; Hyundai Elantra and Santa Fe; Lexus ES350; Nissan Murano and Maxima; Toyota Corolla, Camry, Tundra, Sequoia and RAV4.

Does anybody know who I can contact to see if the new Chevy Sonic or Chevy Spark (scheduled to arrive early in 2012) will be part of the Mainstreet in Motion tour when it arrives late this year in the Seattle, Washington area? Even though the Spark isn’t going to be in production, they could bring one from overseas for comparison.
I tried contacting GM and Chevrolet without a reply. Those are the only two cars I’d be interested in seeing.
Lorbeer,
I don’t see GM offering preproduction test drives of the Chevrolet Spark or Sonic until after they officially launch here in the States. They could ferry over a Spark from overseas, but what if the Spark we get will drive/feel different than others? It might leave the wrong impression on Americans who would drive one. I’ll be waiting with you.
I’ll check in with our contacts at GM for ya and let you know on this comment thread what I find!

Ok, just heard back from GM. The Sonic will be at Main Street In Motion “within the next month.” So it should be there by the time Main Street comes to Seattle October 29-30. However, it won’t be drivable — it will only be on display. 🙁
Our contact doesn’t yet have confirmation for the Spark. I’ll get back to you on here when I hear back (you may want to subscribe to the comments 🙂
Thanks Alex! Even if the Spark would be a display model only, that would make me happy. I just want to see it.

Is there going to be a Main Street in Motion coming through Denver this year (2012)
I had fun at the MSIM last year in Philly, it would appear GM has cancelled it for 2012 and allocated those funds elsewhere – marketing and advertising. Too bad, I was lookin forward to getting my 3 laps in the Corvettes and Camaros.
Yupp, GM has indeed cancelled Main Street in Motion 🙁
