I wonder if the “higher tech” ecco has incandesant bulbs in the tailights to save cost. incandesant bulbs can burn out in 6 months or last 20 years, they use hundreds of times the electrical energy of LED’s mostly using that energy to make heat that melts bulb sockets, annyway LED’s last hundreds of thousands of hours and can last as long as the car Maybee 60 to 100 years in extreme cases or fail in 5 years, they cost hundreds of times that of incandesants, currantly.
My 05 CTS melted a tail lamp socket with one of it’s incandesant bulbs, the HMCL is LED everyone tells me they are expesive to replace if they fail, nock wood mine has’nt despite a seal leak in the HMCL area.
Yeah that’s a good question, Jason. I’m not really sure if they’re LEDs or incandescents. Will have to ask when we see the ‘Bu in a somewhat more private environment soon 🙂
I am really impressed with the way Alex Luft speaks about GM’s new cars, so knowledgeable about describing the details and in some cases, the very subtle changes in the new models. He is a real car guy with a great voice that is so easy to understand.
I look forward to Alex being around the GM AUTHORITY site for a long time. Good job, Alex!
Thanks so much Raymond! I really appreciate your kind words!

I hadn’t noticed this. Thanks for pointing it out, though! I was reading the Johnny Londoff Chevrolet blog on the 2013 Malibu, but i hadn’t read much on the Eco yet. I can’t wait to see both in person!
