In the recent patent filings for the “Intellilink” name, General Motors described it as an “electronic interface module sold as an integral part of a motor land vehicle for wired and wireless interface of handheld electronic devices,” which also fits the bill of the upcoming Chevy/GMC/Buick/Cadillac MyLink apps that will debut in the 2012 Chevy Volt and Equinox. All of which are not to be confused with the OnStar MyLink system.
Just from reading the name alone, one could tell that the MyLink name has become quite messy and confusing. With this in mind, and with word from a GM spokesperson that the Chevy/GMC/Buick Cadillac MyLink name will see a different name in the near future to aleviate confusion with the OnStar MyLink system, we’re going to put our thinking caps on and say that Intellink is the title of choice going forward.
