Chevy Cruze Ad Bashes Corolla In New York City

I’m still in New York, experiencing the town’s (dare I say unique?) automotive culture following the New York Auto Show. While walking the streets of the City That Never Sleeps this evening, I stumbled across this wonderful ad at Times Square. To my surprise, the ad targets the stalwart of the compact segment in the U.S. — the Toyota Corolla. The billboard reads:

“Like a Corolla. But with everything you want. The all-new Chevrolet Cruze.”

The GM Authority Take

Good stuff, Chevy. Very good stuff.

While it’s a very close call in calling the Cruze the best compact car in the world, there’s no question that the Delta II-based sedan (and soon-to-be hatchback) is heads and shoulders better than the lethargic, distasteful, and bland Corolla. As far as we’re concerned, the more aggressive Chevy becomes with its promotions of its new world-class vehicles the better!

  1. I love it. GM is now in the position to show true dominance and they should. Whereas the Focus goes after the civic (sportier, louder, more child like), the Cruze hit directly at the corolla (family oriented, daily driver).
