Unlike this mornings public announcement that the 2012 Cadillac SRX will be getting the 3.6L LLT V6 treatment, the fact that the 2012 Chevy Impala will also see the same engine was a little more hush-hush.
According to Motor Trend, the 2012 Impala will be rated at 286 horsepower and 258 pounds-feet of torque with its new engine, which is slightly more tame than what we will see in the 2012 SRX.

The Alloytech V6 is a wonderfull piece, but the Impala was perfect as is, available seating for 6 and decent fuel ecconomy and handling. the 280 hp won’t make the Impala a sleeper, and it allready has enough power and torque to keep up with trafic, hopefully it won’t hurt fuel ecconomy.
Meh. To me this car is just an irrelevant place holder until the next-generation comes along.
I was looking forward to the new model cause I don’t care for the current body style. I love impala’s but guess I have to find anyother car to buy. 🙁
Well, if you could wait until 2013 for the 2014 Impala when the new body style arrives!
I like the front three passenger seating, not that I will seat three in the front, I like the openness of the floor space in the front and the cupholder is where I want. With the floor shift console, the cupholders are placed too far back for me. That is just my preference. I like the cargo capacity and the highway fuel economy for when I do not need to use the space.
Though I do hope that the new engine yields better fuel economy, meaning city and highway than either the current 3.5L engine.
