WTCC 2011: Chevrolet Takes Charge In Brazil

The Chevrolet Cruze 1.6 Turbo race car has gotten off to a great start in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC). At the first round of WTCC in Curitiba, Brazil, Driver Robert Huff took first in race one followed by Yvan Muller in second and Cacá Bueno in third. Race two saw Alain Menu — who placed sixth in the first round — take the win for Chevy. Muller, Huff, and Bueno then placed third through fifth for Chevy, respectively.

“It has been a brilliant week-end for the entire team and, clearly, to leave Brazil as the championship leader makes me very happy! Race 1 was pretty uneventful, we just had to finish the job we had started in qualifying. Race 2 was very intense, we all were very close. My engine stalled a little bit behind Coronel and that’s when Yvan passed me, we had a good fight in the following two corners, but everything went okay and we can be very happy with these outstanding results,” said Huff.

The next round of WTCC takes place at Zolder, Belgium on April 24th.
