That is an amazing display of the safety involved in Corvette construction. I’m sure luck played a big part, as well as a gaurdian angel! I’ve wrecked at much lower speeds than 230, and was able to walk away, but to lose it above 200 and walk away is a miracle. Wow!
It sure is an amazing display of safety engineering. To be fair though, this guy had all kinds of safety stuff in his car — so I’d expect him to walk away from an accident like that.
Personally, I’ve only been in a single crash heading north of 60 MPH on the expressway (Florida Turnpike) when — in a heavy South Florida shower — my car hydroplaned and hit the median. I spun around three times, heating the median each time. I came away unscathed and the car, which had $6,000 worth of damage — got fixed up in about two months and is now running as if it were new. It sure was scary — and it all happened really fast. Worst part is that I wasn’t even driving aggressively or racing like the guy here.
