Team Chevrolet With Cruze WTCC, New Engine Set To Start 2011 Season Tomorrow In Brazil

It’s that time of year again, folks. The first World Touring Car Championship is just a day away with the first round of racing taking place in Curitiba, Brazil.  And Team Chevrolet, last year’s WTCC champion, has been hard at work preparing for the upcoming season with preparation of their Cruze touring racecars.

For the 2011 season, the cars are equipped with a new 1.6-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that adheres to the recent rule change in engine displacement. This engine is actually a variant of the naturally aspirated 1.6 cylinder ECOTEC engine seen in Cruze models sold in Europe and Asia which produces 111 horsepower and 113 pounds-feet of torque.  Such an engine wouldn’t be a bad fit for a street-legal range-topping Cruze, don’ t you think?
