Sources: Lordstown Assembly May Be Suspended (Again) Due To Japan Crisis

While our hearts, thoughts and prayers from everyone at GM Authority go to the victims and those affected by the earthquake and tsunami of Japan, we thought you would like to know that there have been rumblings among those working at the Lordstown, OH assembly plant they the plant could once again face another suspension in production due to a shortage of parts that come from Japan, according to sources.
If you recall, the plant — which is the sole plant responsible for manufacturing the Chevrolet Cruze for the U.S./Canada market — recently ceased production for a few days due to a fire from a supplier plant in Michigan that led to a choke in parts earlier this month.
Our sources could not confirm temporary closings from other plants, but don’t count on Lordstown being the only plant affected, or General Motors being the only automaker affected.
