Opel Reveals Production Spec Ampera

In no surprise to those who have been paying attention, Opel is finally launching Ampera electric vehicle in Europe later this year. But before that, the century-old German manufacturer’s first extended range electric vehicle will be premiered during March’s Geneva Motor Show.

The Ampera shares nearly all of its mechanical specs with the domestic Chevrolet Volt, but has it’s own very Opel looks.  Priced just below 43,000 Euros, the Ampera is priced nearly a third higher than the Chevy at current exchange rates. Roughly 1,000 Europeans have already reserved their Ampera, with half of those orders for corporate use.

The Opel Ampera features four “Drive Modes”, accessed by buttons in the cabin.  “Normal mode” for regular road and highway driving, “Sport mode” for better acceleration response, “Mountain mode” for added power on inclines, and “City mode” for slower, battery-saving driving.
