According to a report from the Hindustan Times, General Motors India is currently preparing an electric Chevrolet Beat (a.k.a. the Spark) that they will showcase next month, perhaps during the Surat Auto Expo which happens April 8th.
The Indian market currently features only one electric A-segment vehicle in the Mahindra Reva, a car which has a range of only 75 miles at its very best. Europeans may know it as the G-Wiz —  a vehicle that Britain’s Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond love to hate, arguably more than the Morris Marina. Yes, this punchline of a car would be the competition of the electric Beat. If it were to be built.
Unfortunately the e-Beat has yet to be approved for production and at this moment seems like just another one-off of the vehicle. If it were to be given the green light, it would be a huge leap forward for the GM division that still sells fossils like the Chevrolet Optra and Tavera.

Gm has already made a anoucment about haveing a small pure electric BEV in us market, based off the spark.
When? Where? Link?
I think you’re quite a ways off the mark there, bud. They’ve never made such an announcement… unless you’re referring to the EV1.
