Corvette Sales Finally Looking Better After Years Of Decline

Don’t tell the Corvette that there’s a gas crisis. It’s having a good year so far.

For the first two months of this year, the all-American sports car finally saw an uptick in recorded sales compared to the same time last year with a modest gain of 13 percent for both January and February 2011. Aside from the uptick, Corvette sales have been dismal at best, falling lower and lower since 2006.

It’s not all too complicated to understand why the C6 hasn’t been doing so well since its introduction back in 2004. The fact the current body style has outlived every current model in the Chevrolet lineup sans the Impala is a big factor. The other is the rebirth of the Camaro seemingly gives the perception of a better bang-for-buck ratio and could be cannibalizing Corvette sales (but anybody that has driven both knows that both cars are completely different animals, with the ‘Vette by far being the better performer).
