To further blur the line between distinguishing the Chevrolet Volt from the Opel Ampera in Europe, official pricing for the Volt puts the Volt at 41,950 euros, undercutting Ampera’s price of 42,900 euros. The major reason for the jump in price compared to the American price is Germany’s value-added tax (VAT), which in reality just seems to make any car more expensive than it really should be. The poor Ampera really has the odds stacked against it now.

I guess you see nothing wrong with putting a $20,000 tariff on all American cars in Germany.
We should put the same “VAT” tax on all German cars sold in the US… then see how many VW”S BMW’s are sold.
