In a rumor that has been going since 2009, plans are in the works to export the 2014 model year Holden Commodore to the U.S. market as a Chevrolet, going along with what has been reported previously. What has been revealed this time around suggests that the name of the sporty Chevy will be christened as the “SS” — just the SS. What’s more, the Zeta-based vehicle may make its way in a trio of flavors as sedan, sport wagon and ute (El Camino) forms. All by 2013. We could also see such a vehicle offer a 330-horsepower LFX V6 engine and if we’re lucky, a 470 horsepower V8 as well.
Though the reports are parallel with what we’ve heard, we’ve also heard still that we may not see such a car at all. So before we all jump for joy, let’s give this topic a bit of time to solidify.

Well, this really puts a major kink in my long term plans. I had been hoping that there would be a 2012 civilian Caprice offered at some point late this year, or 1st quarter of 2012.
With the rate that the mileage is accumulating on my vehicle, I don’t think that I can wait two more years (daily commute totals 87 miles). I do want a big comfortable rwd performance sedan to be my next car, so I may just have to leave GM (30 years now), and get a Dodge Charger next spring.
You sure you want to put up with that ancient 5-speed in those Chargers? Why not wait until at least the 8-speed?
