Report: GM To Unveil Zeta-Based Vehicle At Chicago Auto Show

According to a report from the Detroit News, General Motors North America President Mark Reuss has confirmed two new vehicles for the 2011 Chicago Auto Show, with one of them being “based on the Camaro platform”. The second vehicle has been reported to be the Buick Regal with e-Assist.

Either Reuss was being coy with the journos and it’s just his funny way of saying that the Camaro Z28 (or whatever it ends up being called) will be unveiled as expected, or it’s something completely outside of the range-topping pony car. Chances are, we won’t be let down either way.

  2. PLEASE PEOPLE STOP POSTING THAT PICTURE: that is not a zeta sedan but actually the next malibu look at it compared to one of the less camouflaged malibu mules, this one is pretty deceiving but if you look closely it is the same car.

anyway it would be nice to see a riviera or something from buick, but a Z/28, Z-Spec Camaro or a Caprice Consumer sedan is more likely.

    1. Interesting — it seems overly big for a Malibu/midsizer. This definitely looks like a full sizer to me. Manoli — what say you?

    2. I’m gonna have to disagree. The 2012 Malibu as we’ve seen it has long, wrapping headlamps that distinguish its profile from the vehicle pictured above. The proportions of the wheels from the doors don’t quite match up either. Have a look at the Caprice PPV Detective Package or a Holden Statesman and let me know if you discover any similarities.

    3. Brendan, that is most certainly NOT a Malibu. The dash-to-axle ratio is too long, the front brake calipers are behind the front axle centerline, and said front brake calipers appear to be yanked out of the CTS-V parts bin. I think y’all need to get your eyes checked.

  3. Hmmmmm…so you guys think this vehicle is the park avenue, I would hope not it would not fit into the buick lineup its a caprice for crying put loud i just hope this is not a buick 🙁

    1. Actually, it would fit into the lineup perfectly. It needs some soft interior appointments, a soft ride, and a $50,000+ price tag. Pit it against the Lexus LS and let a much more sporty Cadillac flagship (not XTS) go against the 7 series, S Class, A8.
