Opel is thinking about introducing another car for police departments, but it’s not the Insignia OPC, or the upcoming Astra GTC. Instead, they’re considering the Ampera, the Chevy Volt’s European cousin. According to Opel, the extended range electric vehicle could be perfect for urban use, and would help the brand move some Amperas — should they go forward with such a plan.
Now a question to all of our American readers out there: could you see a Chevrolet Volt patrolling the urban streets? Sound off in the comments below.

My father owns a Chevy Volt and loves it (this from a man who triannually bought a new Caddilac STS from ’93 – ’05). It has considerable “zip” but my only concern about this model patrolling urban neighborhoods would whether or not it has enough pickup to participate in a high speed pursuit. Being from the NY Metro Area I guess I can see how that wouldn’t be an issue though.
