Having made 125,389 sales for the month of January, Chevrooet is getting off to a fast start for 2011 right out of the gate, outpacing all of its rival brands, including Toyota and Ford. Diving deeper into the numbers game, we find that the Chevy Camaro and Volt — two vehicles that truly stand out — outsold their rivals as well.
The Chevy Camaro saw great success in January, outselling the Ford Mustang by 1,598 units with 4,763 sales to the Ford’s 3,165. The Dodge Challenger continues as a distant third with 2,526 units.
As for the Volt, the market-limited EREV continued to shock the Nissan LEAF in January sales as both vehicles slowly (but surely) trickle into the U.S. market. The Volt was able to net 321 total sales in its launch markets, while the Nissan was only able to sell 87 LEAF electric vehicles. And for those who think it’s way too early to tell the winner of the EV space — you’re absolutely correct.
