Rumormill: Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Not To See Production Until January 1, 2012

Being a site dedicated to the GM enthusiast, it pains us to report on the speculation that the Chevrolet Camaro Z28 will not start production for another full year. That’s another full year of impatiently waiting.

When we reported on a full-on spy video of a cloaked Z28 running the ‘Ring back in October of 2010 — we felt that the launch of the Z28 was just around the corner. Now we are left scratching our heads as to why the super ponycar will see another full year of development before consumers get to drive one. And being that 2011 is Chevy’s centennial year and all, we find it sad that the Z28 will miss the party.  Hopefully we will at least see its unveiling at either Chicago in a month or New York in April, and we won’t have to wait until the LA Auto Show in November.

  1. Nurburg Ring
The understeering pig is being exercized from the Camaro, maybee Cadillac suspention? Should handle as well as it looks. With 550 or more hp this is a safety issue as well as a competitive one, hope Z28 is the Ne Plus Ultra in the Musclecar catagory once more, hey maybee get John Heinracy and the couple from Detroit Speed to help, could’nt hurt.

  3. At this point, JB, who knows. We still have until probably 2013-14 until we see the new Alpha-based Camaro.

  4. Maybe it will only see production in 2012 for the revised interior?
