Report: UAW Wants Representation On GM Board Of Directors

Playing to what UAW chief Bob King is calling a “softer” approach to get what they want collaborate with automakers, the union is reportedly pushing for a seat on each domestic automaker’s board of directors — a.k.a. General Motors, Ford and Chrysler.

Past UAW trends show that the organization resisted the idea of joining an automaker’s board in an effort to remain independent, but King sees benefit in this method, and with contract negotiations happening this summer between GM and the UAW, a seat reserved for the union is totally plausible. Currently, the UAW cannot organize a strike on GM until 2015.
