GM is the biggest spender among the automotive industry in the Super Bowl XLV and is thus expected to show a plethora of ads during the televised event. Be that as it may, our sources tell us that one of the many commercials prepared by General Motors for the upcoming event will feature the recently-launched (in North America) Chevrolet Cruze.
Given that the big game is the single biggest (and most expensive) advertising event of the year that gets the message out to million of viewers, it makes sense for The General to run an ad for a new nameplate such as the Cruze. The Delta II-based compact sedan has had somewhat of a rocky launch, although all signs are currently pointed in the right direction for the vehicle to grow market share.
At this point, we don’t know what form the Cruze ad will take and whether it will be similar to the previously-run Dear [insert name of competitor] ads pitting the vehicle against segment-leaders such as the Corolla, Civic, or Focus. But if we were to guess, we’d wager that we’ll see an all-new spot specifically made for the game’s TV viewers — since, you know, people actually watch and anticipate ads during the televised event rather than fast-forward through them.
So, what would you like to see in a Cruze Super Bowl commercial come Sunday, February 6? Talk to us in the comments below.
