Effective immediately, GM’s Vice President of marketing will have a whole lot more responsibility on his hands. Joel Ewanick will see an expansion of his duties on a global scale, becoming The General’s global Chief Marketing Officer while still retaining the responsibilities of his previous position as Vice President of marketing at GM North America.
Ewanick’s position will help achieve a consistent message for global brands such as Chevrolet and Buick while fine tuning marketing for brands seen in only certain parts of the world such as Holden and Vauxhall. He will report to both CEO Dan Akerson (for all global matters) and GM North America President Mark Reuss (for all North American marketing affairs).
