Guangzhou 2010: Cadillac SLS 2.0T SIDI

Question: What does a Cadillac sold in China have in common with the late Pontiac Solstice GXP? If you’re an engine buff, you would already know the answer.

During the 2010 Guangzhou Auto Show, General Motors unveiled the first Cadillac ever to sport a turbocharged engine with the Cadillac SLS 2.0T SIDI. There will be three output variants available, though no specs were given. As a reference, the 2.0T SIDI (also known as the LNF) four banger found in the Solstice GXP produced 260 horsepower and 265 lb.-ft. of torque. It might not sound like a lot of power for such a large and heavy vehicle, but when the purpose is low emissions and fuel economy — rather than a mountain of power — the powerplant seems right on the money.
