The latest recall from General Motors involves 2011 model-year GMC Sierra 1500, Chevy Silverado 1500, Chevy Avalanche, and Cadillac Escalade EXT trucks. The culprit is the rear axle cross pin that was not manufactured to proper spec that can possibly lead to the locking of the entire rear axle and the subsequent loss of directional control by the driver. GM claims there are no known injuries or fatalities resulting from the issue.
There will be no charge to the customer to fix the issue by replacing the rear axle cross pin. The recall is expected to begin January 2011 and owners can contact Cadillac at 1-866-982-2339, Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438, GMC at 1-866-996-9463, and the GM Owner Center at www.GMOwnerCenter.com.

Seems like every automanufacturer is in the crosshairs of our government safety gurus!
I imagine the government needs to appear at least to be impartial as they torture Toyota! LOL (and I don’t believe the runaway toyota nonsense was anything more than driver error..)
Thanks for the heads up.
