The latest recall news from General Motors involves the first generation Cadillac CTS from the 2005-2007 model years. The recall is due to a kink in the presence system that could lead to the failure of proper passenger airbag deployment. GM claims there are no known injuries or fatalities due to the issue. As per usual, there will be no charge to the customer to fix the recall.

Monday my CTS go’s in for the 3rd time for a mysterious coolant leak (my dealership says they could not find out were the coolant is leaking from; HVAC do’es not mist the interior with coolant so it could be a intake plenum leak or even a hard to reach hose clamp CTS is like all the Camaro’s and Monza’s I’ve had the pleasure of knowing in that the powertrain must be droped to see or acctually sevice annyting , maybee some of the labor involved in dissembly of the dash and center stack will be absorbed by the recall work. Acctually I care more that the car is safe and reliable than what it costs to fix. I suppose a passeger airbag that refuses to deploy in a collision is safer for me than one that could deplay unninitiated, because most of the time I drive the car alone.
All these recalls are posing a huge problem for GM. A friend of mine was fired in a Utah airbag plant that makes the airbags for all GM trucks and suvs. It was said he was suspect for building them wrong. I know the company didn’t tell GM, or even recall or test any parts to see if they were faulty. GM could end up paying a lot of money in damages if that is true.
I had 2007 cad cts and my partner was in a car accident and past away. They say that it hit on the side on an angle and thay are programed not to deploy Then why do we have side impact airbags????
