GM Foundation Donates $27.1 Million To United Way In Effort To Turn Around Detroit Public Schools

Along with all of the proceeds from an online auction selling a very special Chevrolet Volt, the Detroit Public School district has a lot more coming from General Motors. $27.1 million to be exact.

There is more to this than simply handing the DPS a check. GM’s charity – the General Motors Foundation – will actually be donating the money to United Way, which in turn will help selected the Detroit schools and implement the proven Networks of Excellence program, which specializes in turning around low graduation rates.
