Don’t look so surprised. The Chevrolet Volt has been running a virtual sweep of just about every major award out there, including the 2011 Motor Trend Car of the Year, the 2011 Green Car of the Year, one of Car and Driver’s 10 Best for 2011, and Automobile Magazine’s 2011 Car of the Year.
So, is it surprising that Michigan’s largest newspaper voted on the Michigan built technological breakthrough that is the Volt to be its Car of the Year? Absolutely not. No doubt, all of these awards are getting impressive, but honestly, for the Volt to be upset and not win another award would be more of a surprise than anything.

Chevy volt is an awesome revolution to the automobile around the world.
Fantastic driving experience for a vehicle that could in many homes not use gasoline on a daily basis..(Under 40 miles driven each day is 78 percent of americans daily commute)
very exciting although I heard the mileage in the cold weather drops down to 25 miles…
Thats not as cool as the 40 that was promised..
but at least there is the gasoline engine on board to get home.
@Chevylover:
Keep in mind that we still see a drop in mileage in conventional gasoline engines in cold weather this very day. It comes as no surprise that the cold will also hinder the performance of the Volt, which is the first of its kind.
Did not know cold weather lowers gas mileage on traditionally powered vehicles.
Thanks for the heads up
