Rendered: Buick Regal GS Convertible

Like most automotive enthusiasts, we love us a nice rendering on a lazy Sunday afternoon. And that’s exactly what the folks at Car And Driver delivered in the form of a beautiful Buick Regal GS drop-top.

Whether this car – or a version thereof – will ever make it to production is as good as anyone’s guess at this point. However, we have it on good notice that Opel is working on a coupe variant of the Insignia/Regal for the 2013 model year – making the convertible alternative that much more of a production reality.

  2. Double Dog Dare! The convertible and the “New Calibra” coupe it’s photoshopped from are just beautiful cars. buick should bring the coupe just as fast as they need to get the Wagon here. The Pontiac G6 was a very aesthetically pleasing car in my eye. That Just blows The G6 away, and there is a market for a full 4 seat convertible. Matter of fact, the coupe would be perfect for the eventual return of GX, GN and GNX models, none of which belong on a 4 door car

I think Buick would be wise to position itself as a brand where we have a middle market choice- tradtional Buick comfort and luxury OR an athletic performance (European) inspiring performance, both at a relatively affordable price. Neither are absent in Buick’s past and both were strong points In Buick’s history.

Just give me the Wagon, Coupe and Convertible(in that order), all in turbocharged AWD- six speed GS guise preferrably, and I’ll be an Audi-less, 3 Buick Family- quickly!

  3. Buick is in the right direction,I’ve always loved coupes .My first was an 1988 Grand Am And had a Grand Am all the way till 2002 .When it was time to trade in ,well it didn’t go as planed so I traded it in for the Impala LS .This was a transformation that I really didn’t like luxury was great but the vehicle was a much larger sedan that I was used to . The Grand Am GT had a pretty pep to it and quick response and now I find myself at the age of 38 wanting a sport sedan again now that Buick has reviewed Regal GS and it would be great as a coupe . Especially with the luxury I’m looking for ,the look of redefined coupe and of course power for inner child . And I hope they keep the price competitively around 30-35k.When will we now about the coupe being on the market will it be sometime soon within a few months or is this just idea just to get my hopes up ? Looking to purchase a new vehicle around March 2012 . Best Regards

    1. It’s coming, but not in the next few months. It will be for this generation, but the current question is whether it will be a Regal/Insignia coupe or have a higher level of differentiation from the sedan version to be its own model range. Hope to find out December from a few sources 🙂
